PHISING(EMAIL PHISING) AND HOW TO PREVENT IT

Phishing according to wikipedia is the attempt to acquire sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, and credit card details (and sometimes, indirectly, money), often for malicious reasons, by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication.
Email Phising
This is the act of sending email to a user falsely claiming to be an established legitimate enterprise in an attempt to scam the user into surrendering private information that will be used in identity theft.
The email directs the user to visit private websites where they are asked to update personal information such as passwords, bank number, credit card, passport phone number etc that the legitimate organisation already has.
Phising scam could be
Emails inviting you to join a social group asking you to login using your username and password.
Emails saying that your bank account is locked and that you should sign into your account to unlock it.
Emails containing some Information on you interest and asking you to login to your account.
Any email carrying a link to click and asking you to login

HOW TO PREVENT PHISING
There are many ways by which one can prevent phishing. here are some of them
Read all emails carefully and check if the sender is original
Watch the link carefully before clicking
Always check the URL(Website address)
Always login to your account after opening the trusted website and not by checking in another website or email.
